Gibson Center for Behavioral Change to celebrate Recovery Month with Public Events

The Gibson Center for Behavioral Change is excited to announce a series of public events this September to celebrate National Recovery Month. These events are designed to empower individuals in recovery, challenge stigma, and build hope for those struggling with substance use and mental health disorders.

The month-long observance kicks off with Overdose Awareness Day on August 31 and culminates with the annual Recovery Fest on September 28. Additional events include a recovery-focused business luncheon, a speaker series, and a day set aside to recognize first responders for their continued community support.

“We’re excited about Recovery Month this year as a platform to showcase the incredible strength and resilience of our community members in recovery,” said Lezlie Fox, program manager of the We Do Recover Community Center in Cape Girardeau and an event organizer. “Our goal is to break down stigma and let people know that recovery is possible for everyone.”

Overdose Awareness Day and Recovery Fest are collaborative efforts involving the Gibson Center for Behavioral Change, FCC Behavioral Health, Community Counseling Center, New Season Treatment Center, and BOSS Life, a recovery housing program for women.
